Sroka & Bazzell earn honor for second straight year

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -
The Illinois Wesleyan University men's basketball team saw three student-athletes named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District team released Tuesday, March 26. Senior Ryan Sroka (Lake in the Hills, Ill.-Huntley), junior Trey Bazzell (Fairbury, Ill.-Prairie Central), and sophomore Karlo Colak (Glencoe, Ill.-New Trier) represented the Green and White on the list, with Sroka & Bazzell earning the honor for the second time in their careers. 


Sroka, a team captain for the Titans, started all 27 games for IWU in his senior season. He averaged 9.7 points per game with 4.1 rebounds per contest. He posted single-game highs of 17 points, six rebounds, four assists, and three steals over the course of the season.

Bazzell, garnering the distinction for the first time in his career, appeared in all 27 games, making four starts. He made a team-leading 28 three-pointers on the season, while averaging 4.8 points per contest. Bazzell scored a career-high 15 points against Millikin, Jan. 10, and added single-game highs of four rebounds, two assists, two steals, and two blocks throughout the season.

Emerging as a key player off the bench in his sophomore season, Colak played in 25 games. The Glencoe, Ill. native made four starts, while averaging 2.7 points and 1.2 rebounds per contest. He made his first career start at North Central, Dec. 9. Colak tallied career-highs of eight points, five rebounds, two assists, two steals, and two blocks during his sophomore campaign.

The trio helped IWU win the CCIW Regular Season Championship outright, while the Titans finished the season with a 19-8 overall record.
