NAPERVILLE, Ill. - A strong end to the Illinois Wesleyan University baseball team's spring break trip earned junior Cole Shamhart (Oak Park, Ill.-Oak Park River Forest) College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Pitcher of the Week honors, Monday afternoon, March 18. It is the second weekly award of his career and the third by a Titan this season.

The Titans finished up a week-long trip to Florida where they played a total of seven games with a record of 5-2. Head Coach Dennis Martel earned his 900th win in IWU's Florida finale.

Shamhart was dominant on the bump against the Unversity of Minnesota Morris as the Cougars had just four hits over seven innings of work. He struck out seven and limited the Cougars to a .162 batting average to help IWU to the run-rule win, 11-1.

This season, the sophomore holds an ERA of 2.95 over 21.1 innings, with four starts on the young season. The Oak Park, Ill. native has allowed 17 hits and has 21 strikeouts to his name.

The Titans play their first home games of the season, March 23, with a 12 p.m. first pitch against Wabash College in a twin bill.
