Figus Hauls in CCIW Hitter of the Week Honors

NAPERVILLE, Ill. - A strong start to the Illinois Wesleyan University baseball team's spring break trip earned junior Tristan Figus (Arlington Heights, Ill.-Buffalo Grove) College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Hitter of the Week honors Monday afternoon, March 11. It is the first weekly award of Figus' career, while it is the second for the Titans this season. Cole Shamhart was honored as the league's pitcher of the week last Monday, March 4.

Figus kicked off IWU's time in Florida with two strong showings, March 9-10. The Arlington Heights, Ill. native cranked out a team-high seven hits in nine at bats, good for a whopping .778 batting average. He led the team with five runs scored, while also notching a double and a walk to finish the weekend with an on-base percentage of .800.

After a 3-for-4 showing against Ripon, Figus put together a career day in an offensive outburst against Stockton, March 10. He went 4-for-5 at the dish with five runs scored and three driven in, all of which were good for career-highs. Behind Figus' breakthrough game, the Titans put up the most runs (21) since 2017 and the most hits (24) since 2016.

The Titans continue their run in the Sunshine State tomorrow, March 12, with a 12:30 p.m. ET first pitch against the University of Southern Maine.
