Feddersen Highlights Day One of CCIW Championship

Titans are set to compete in day two of CCIW Championship

PLEASANT PRAIRIE, Wis.- The Illinois Wesleyan University men's and women's swim and dive teams completed day one of the three-day College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Championships Thursday, Feb. 22, coming away with one champion in senior Lauren Feddersen (Champaign, Ill.-Centennial).

In true IWU fashion, Feddersen took home first place in the 200-yard individual medley while also setting a personal-best time of 2:07.62. Only a second off the school record held by fellow teammate junior Hadley Fudge (Stanford, Ill.-University), who placed third in the event timing in at 2:08.59.

For the men, Senior Ethan Lowder (Bloomington, Ill.-Normal Community) claimed an All-CCIW spot as he took second place in the men's 50 Freestyle (20.95).

Almost breaking the men's 200-yard Freestyle Relay school record Lowder, sophomore Sam Fogarty (Pontiac, Ill.-Pontiac Township), freshmen Jack Hansen (Naperville, Ill.-Benet Academy) and Rylan Nelson (Normal, Ill.-University) took fourth place with a time of 1:24.29, just .2 seconds off of the current school record. 

Sophomore Kayleigh Kuschewski (Batavia, Ill.-Batavia), Feddersen, junior Emily Marks (Cary, Ill.-Cary Grove), and senior Bella Calcagno (Lemont, Ill.-Lemont Township) boasted an impressive second place performance in the 400-yard Medley Relay with a time of 3:59.27, two seconds shy of first place. 

Preliminaries for day two of the CCIW Championships start at 10:30 a.m. and finals will begin at 6 p.m. A live stream will be available via the CCIW's official YouTube account. The link to the live stream will be listed on the swim and dive schedule pages on iwusports.com when made available.  Live results will be made available via the CCIW Championship event website, here. Results will be posted to iwusports.com following the completion of each day.
