NAPERVILLE, Ill. -
A strong week of performances saw the Illinois Wesleyan University women's basketball garner its first College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin weekly award of the season Monday, Feb. 12, as junior Mallory Powers (Amboy, Ill.-Amboy) was named the CCIW's Player of the Week. It is the first weekly award of Powers' career and marks the first for the Titans since Sawyer White did so Feb. 6, 2023.


Powers led Illinois Wesleyan to a pair of key road wins, Feb. 7-10. She averaged 17.5 points on 60.9 percent shooting, while finishing the week 5-for-11 from beyond the arc. Powers added 4.0 rebounds, 3.5 steals, and 2.5 assists per game over the two-game stretch. The Amboy, Ill. native scored 17 points to go along with four steals, four rebounds, and a pair of steals at Elmhurst. She followed that up with 18 points, including a pair of three-pointers, as IWU put up its best three-point shooting performance in more than a decade. Powers was nearly perfect against the Firebirds, going 8-for-11 from the field.

For the season, Powers is tied for fourth in the league in rebounding, three-pointers made per game, three-point field goal percentage, seventh in assists, and second in assist to turnover ratio.

Illinois Wesleyan opens up a two-game homestand Wednesday, Feb. 14, against North Park University. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. inside the Shirk Center.
