NAPERVILLE, Ill. - For the first time in his career, Illinois Wesleyan University sophomore Mason Funk (Normal, Ill.-University High) reeled in College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Men's Basketball Player of the Week status the league office announced Monday, Dec. 23. It is the second weekly award by the Titans this season, as Hakim Williams garnered the distinction Nov. 13.

Funk fueled ninth-ranked IWU to an 84-68 win over No. 2 WashU, Dec. 19. The sophomore tied a career-high with a game-high 20 points, tallying his second straight 20-point effort. Funk went 7-for-16 from the field, knocking down 4-of-9 three-point tries, while adding five rebounds, two assists, and a pair of blocks.

Funk and Illinois Wesleyan fly down to Texas for the Cru Classic, Dec. 29-30. IWU plays LeTourneau University Sunday. Dec. 29, at 2 p.m. The Titans then take on University of Mary Hardin-Baylor Monday, Dec. 30, at 4 p.m.
