BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Celebrating its seniors, the Illinois Wesleyan University men's and women's swim and dive team competed in its last scheduled home meet of the season Saturday, Jan. 27. The Titans faced Franklin College where the Grizzlies took home the win with scores of 219-74 on the women's side and 177-104 on the men's side. 

The Titans placed first in five events throughout the meet. For the women, sophomore Natalie Porter (Danville, Ill.-Danville) was the sole individual winner, taking first place in the 1000-yard freestyle, clocking in with a time of 11:13.49. Porter last swam this event at the beginning of the season at Lewis (12:00.97), for an impressive drop of 47 seconds. 

For the men, three Titans pulled out impressive wins. Sophomore Sam Fogarty (Pontiac, Ill.-Pontiac Township) proved to be the Green and White's leader of the meet, taking home two wins. Fogarty won the 200-Yard freestyle, clocking in at 1:50.40, and took first in the 100-Yard freestyle with a time of 49.09. The Pontiac, Ill. native took time off of both events from the season and is two seconds shy of his personal best in the 100-Yard freestyle. Freshman Jack Hansen (Naperville, Ill.-Benet Academy) took away a win in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:03.44. Junior Alex Kula (Pekin, Ill.-Pekin Community) was the last Titan to take a first place individual win in the 500-Yard freestyle with a time of 5:10.92.

Illinois Wesleyan will return to action at the CCIW Championship, which will take place Wednesday, Feb. 21st - Saturday, Feb. 24th.
