Swim and Dive Sets Sight on Senior Day

Meet starts at 1 p.m.

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - After a double header last weekend the Illinois Wesleyan University swim and dive team is back home for the last time this season. The Titans will be competing against the Grizzlies of Franklin College Saturday, Jan. 27. The meet will start at 1 p.m. and seniors will be recognized and celebrated for their contributions to the swim and dive team 10 minutes before the start of the meet. 

The Titans return to the pool after two tri meets last weekend. IWU hosted Illinois College and Millikin University Friday, Jan. 19. 10 Titans picked up several individual wins at the meet to win all around against both teams.  In the IWU-IIT-Carthage Triangular Saturday, Jan. 20, the Titans came home with four more individual wins. 

Franklin College has been a fierce competitor for IWU since its first meet back in 2016. Since then, the Titans and the Grizzlies have gone head to head seven times with the the most recent one, Jan. 28, 2023. Both the men and the women were bested by Franklin 198-84 and 161-131. 

IWU will be recognizing 11 seniors at the meet. Seniors Hannah Murray (West Chicago, Ill.-St. Charles East), Lauren Feddersen (Champaign, Ill.-Centennial), Sami Curtis (Pekin, Ill.-Pekin Community), Natalie Wajda (Park Ridge, Ill.-Maine South), Jackie Rae Kelch (Peoria, Ill.-Peoria Notre Dame), Sydney Dunlap (Wheaton, Ill.-Wheaton Warrenville South), and Bella Calcagno (Lemont, Ill.-Lemont Township) on the women's side. For the men, seniors Ethan Lowder (Bloomington, Ill.-Normal Community), Henry Moore (Champaign, Ill.-Centennial), Lane Wagner (Danville, Ill.-Danville), and Donald Tichy (Chicago, Ill.-Chicago HS for Agricultural Science) will all be recognized.
