French Repeats as CCIW Hitter of the Week

Earns fourth weekly award of her career

NAPERVILLE, Ill. - For the second straight week, sophomore Taylor French (Romeoville, Ill.-Plainfield East) of the Illinois Wesleyan University women's volleyball team earned College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Hitter of the Week honors. The award is the fourth of the sophomore's career.

French helped propel the Illinois Wesleyan women's volleyball team over 15th-ranked University of Wisconsin Stevens Point. In three matches played for a total of 13 sets, the sophomore compiled 53 kills, 51 digs, seven aces, Saturday, Sept. 9 with two double-double performances. For the week, French averaged 4.08 kills per set, 3.92 digs per set, 4.69 points per set, and 0.54 aces per set. Her strong performance in the first of three IWU Tournaments earned her All-Tournament honors.

In the match against Concordia University Wisconsin Saturday, Sept. 9, the Romeoville, Ill. native finished with 24 kills on a .333 attack percentage, one shy of tying her career-best. She added 19 digs to record her first double-double of the day, and notched four aces.

French continued her strong weekend, leading the offense in the takedown of UWSP. The sophomore posted a match-high 22 kills, while finishing with three aces. She added 18 digs on defense, second-most for the Green and White, to lock up her second double-double performance of the day.

The Titans open CCIW play Wednesday night, Sept. 13, traveling to Carroll University for a 7 p.m. start.
