GREENWOOD, Ind. - Junior Lexi Onsrud (Normal, Ill.-University High) of the Illinois Wesleyan University women's golf team and Sarah Gleason (Park Ridge, Ill.-Maine South) of the women's lacrosse team were voted College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA) Academic All-America the organization announced Wednesday, June 21. Onsrud, who was named a Third Team Academic All-America honoree last year, garners the prestigious award for the second straight year as a first team pick this year. Meanwhile, Gleason receives the accolade for the first time in her career as a Third Team Academic All-American.

Onsrud, a health promotion and fitness management management major with a 4.00 grade point average, earned Women's Golf Coaches Association Second Team All-American honors last month. The Normal, Ill. native played in 11 tournaments with nine top-10 finishes and three rounds of par-or-better. Onsrud placed in the top-five six times and tallied three wins. She grabbed medalist honors at the IWU Fall Classic, Sept. 17-18, the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Championship, Oct. 6-8, and the Franklin Spring Invite, April 22-23. Onsrud was an All-CCIW honoree, a three-time CCIW Golfer of the Week selection, Academic All-CCIW, and the recipient of the league's Elite 26 Award for the second straight season.

An elementary education major, Gleason graduated from Illinois Wesleyan in May with a 4.00 grade point average. The four-year starter wrapped up her collegiate career second on the team with 19 assists, and third in points with 47. Gleason displayed her ability to lead on both sides of the field, as she led the team with 44 ground balls, and added 35 draw controls and 28 goals. A co-captain for the 2023 season, Gleason appeared in all 18 games and started 17. The Park Ridge, Ill. native finished with 121 points in her career, ninth-most in program history.

Onsrud and Gleason are the third and fourth to reel in the award this year, joining Ethan Lowder (men's swimming & diving) and Quinn Clifford (men's golf). Furthermore, IWU has had at least one Academic All-America selection in each of the past nine academic years, and the Titans now have 150 all-time Academic All-American selections. Onsrud is the only women's golfer in program history to garner the honor, while Gleason joins Janaye Godfrey as the second women's lacrosse player named to the list all-time.
