Men’s Golf Holds on to Win Home Tournament

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University men's golf team held on to win the IWU Invitational Saturday, April 8, at Weibring Golf Club. The Titans took home the team title by a three-stroke margin to finish the weekend with a two-round total of 587. It is the fourth tournament win of the season for the Green and White.

Behind IWU, St. John's surged from fourth to second as the Johnnies finished with a score of 590. Aurora and Bethel tied for third at 592. SJU's Thomas Gutzmer was the medalist at 139. The Titan 'B' team finished sixth in the 37-team field, while the 'C' team tied for 19th.

Freshman Juney Bai (Mokena, Ill.-Lincoln-Way Central) tied for fourth with a score of 145, as IWU's top finisher. Fellow freshman Jackson Husley (St. Charles, Ill.) tied for 11th at 147. Sophomore Quinn Clifford (Chicago, Ill.-Brother Rice) carded Illinois Wesleyan's best round of the day, an even-par 71, to tie for 15th. Also finishing in a tie for 15th were freshmen Michael Spitzer (Hinsdale, Ill.-Hinsdale Central) and Myles Lahart (Park Ridge, Ill.-Maine South).

Next on the schedule for the Titans is the Take Back the Night Challenge, hosted by Millikin, April 21-22.
