Women’s Lacrosse Falls to No. 16 Chicago on Senior Day

Titans honored six seniors prior to start of match

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University women's lacrosse team fell to No. 16 University of Chicago, 23-1, Saturday, April 22. The loss drops the Titans to 6-9 overall, 2-2 in College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin action, while Chicago improves to 12-2, 3-0 in CCIW play.

Prior to the start of the match, IWU honored its six seniors, Jennie Hubbard (St. Charles, Ill.-St. Charles East), Julia Raczykowski (Minooka, Ill.-Minooka Community), Sarah Gleason (Park Ridge, Ill.-Maine South), Carlyn Bratt (Palatine, Ill.-Palatine), Rebecca Rymarcsuk (Lake Zurich, Ill.-Lake Zurich Senior), and Kelly Carlson (Western Springs, Ill.-Lyons Township)

The Titans lone goal came courtesy of junior Britney Maldonado (Hoffman Estates, Ill.-James B. Conant) capitalizing on a free position. Racykowski led the defense, as she tied her career-high with four ground balls, while recording a career-best four caused turnovers, both of which were team-highs. Rebecca Rymarcsuk and sophomore Mia Fiandaca (St. Charles, Ill.-St. Charles North) each scooped up three ground balls. Fiandaca, Maldonado, and fifth-year Heather Dietrich (Geneseo, Ill.-Geneseo) each caused a pair of turnovers. 

Rebecca Rymarcsuk logged 45: minutes between the posts, making nine saves, while sophomore Lizzie Rymarcsuk (Lake Zurich, Ill.-Saint Viator) recorded 15 minutes in net. 

The Titans have a quick turnaround, as they will host Elmhurst University Monday, April 24, for a 4 p.m. start inside Tucci Stadium.
