BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University women's lacrosse team will host Augsburg University Saturday March 4 in the second leg of a doubleheader at Tucci Stadium. The men's lacrosse team will take on Whittier College at 12 p.m., followed by the women's game at 4 p.m.

Illinois Wesleyan (0-3) enters the match after dropping its bout at Aurora University Wednesday, March 1, 16-5. The match saw a great battle in the first half as the shorthanded Titans trailed the reigning Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference champions, 4-3, after the first thirty minutes of action. Senior Sarah Gleason (Park Ridge, Ill.-Maine South) recorded a hat-trick in the loss.

Gleason and freshman Carleigh Fountain (Orland Park, Ill.-Carl Sandburg) lead the Green and White in scoring with four goals each through the first three contests. Freshman Devon Hanson (Waukesha, Wis.-Waukesha West) closely follows with three goals.

Defensively, seniors Julia Raczykowski (Minooka, Ill.-Minooka Community) and Jennie Hubbard (St. Charles, Ill.-St. Charles East) lead the Titans with six and five caused turnovers, respectively. Sophomore Lizzie Rymarcsuk (Lake Zurich, Ill.-Saint Viator) has recorded a team-high 138:12 minutes between the posts and has recorded 35 saves in that time.

Augsburg (1-1) enters the match off an 18-7 win over the University of Wisconsin-Stout Wednesday, March 1. This will be the second time in program history that the Titans and the Auggies have faced off. IWU won the first meeting, 19-7, March 22, 2021 in Minneapolis, Minn. Gleason recorded three goals, and then-freshman Hannah Trousdale (Mount Prospect, Ill.-Hoffman Estates) had two.

The match will serve as Preview Day for the program, which provides 2024 lacrosse players a chance to experience what it means to be a women's lacrosse player at Illinois Wesleyan. Information regarding the match can be found by clicking here
