Women’s Lacrosse to Play Nationally-Ranked Roanoke

Titans will finish their spring break trip in Salem, Va.

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - On the last leg of its spring break trip, the Illinois Wesleyan University women's lacrosse team will make a stop in Salem, Va. to take on 18th-ranked Roanoke College Thursday, March 16. Action is set to begin at 4 p.m. ET.

Illinois Wesleyan (2-5) enters the match off a 19-4 loss to the University of Lynchburg Tuesday, March 14. Senior Sarah Gleason (Park Ridge, Ill.-Maine South) and sophomore Mia Fiandaca (St. Charles, Ill.-St. Charles North) each scored a pair of goals. 

Fiandaca leads the Titan offense through the first seven games with 14 goals and 17 points. Freshmen Carleigh Fountain (Orland Park, Ill.-Carl Sandburg) and Devon Hanson (Waukesha, Ill.-Waukesha West) follow with 13 goals each. Fountain and Gleason have recorded 15 points on the season to round out the Titan offense. 

Defensively, sophomore Lizzie Rymarcsuk (Lake Zurich, Ill.-Saint Viator) leads the Green and White with 20 ground balls, while Gleason is second with 17. Rymarcsuk has been the primary goalkeeper for the Titans, as she has logged 282:03 minutes of action between the posts. In that time, the sophomore has made 69 saves and holds a .500 save percentage on a 2-4 record. 

Roanoke enters the match with a perfect 5-0 record, most recently defeating Fairleigh-Dickinson University Florham, 20-5, Friday, March 10. This will be the first meeting between the two teams.
