Women’s Lacrosse Falls at Lynchburg

Titans play No. 18 Roanoke Thursday, March 16

LYNCHBURG, Va. - On the second stop of a three-game spring break trip, the Illinois Wesleyan University women's lacrosse team fell to the University of Lynchburg 19-4, Tuesday, March 14. The Titans fall to 2-5 on the season, while the Hornets improve to 2-4. 

The Titan offense mustered eight shots in the loss, finding the back of the net on 50 percent of those. Senior Sarah Gleason (Park Ridge, Ill.-Maine South) and sophomore Mia Fiandaca (St. Charles, Ill.-St. Charles North) each recorded a pair of goals in the match. Freshman Devon Hanson (Waukesha, Wis.-Waukesha West), sophomore Avery Setzler (Bloomington, Ill.-Bloomington), and junior Britney Maldonado (Hoffman Estates Ill.-James B. Conant) assisted on a Titan goal. 

Defensively, Gleason and freshman Sarah Riepe (Aurora, Ill.-St. Francis) both scooped up two ground balls. Sophomore Lizzie Rymarcsuk (Lake Zurich, Ill.-Saint Viator) fell to 2-4 between the posts for the Titans, as she allowed six goals while saving four shots in 15 minutes of action.
