Women’s Lacrosse Makes First Spring Break Stop at Transylvania

Titans will play the first of three games on their spring break trip

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Coming off back-to-back home wins, the Illinois Wesleyan University women's lacrosse team will make the first stop of its spring break trip at Transylvania University, Saturday, March 11. Action is set to begin at 1 p.m. ET. 

IWU (2-3) enters the contest after taking down Edgewood College 22-9, Wednesday night, March 8. Eight Titans scored in the win, led by junior Britney Maldonado's (Hoffman Estates, Ill-James B. Conant) five goals. Sophomore Mia Fiandaca (St. Charles, Ill.-St. Charles North) led the Titans in points with seven, as she had four goals and three assists. Freshmen Devon Hanson (Waukesha, Wis.-Waukesha West), Carleigh Fountain (Orland Park, Ill.-Carl Sandburg), and Sadie Newton (Bloomington, Ill.-Normal Community) each had a hat-trick. 

Transy enters the match off a 13-6 win over Baldwin Wallace University Tuesday, March 7, to move to 2-2 on the season. 

The Titans have faced the Pioneers once prior to Saturday's matchup, with Illinois Wesleyan winning the initial meeting, 10-9, to defend Tucci Stadium March 14, 2021. Then-sophomore Sarah Gleason (Park Ridge, Ill.-Maine South) registered a goal in the win. Maldonado and then-sophomore Kelly Carlson (Western Springs, Ill.-Lyons Township) each scooped up two ground balls.
