Women’s Lacrosse Travels to Aurora for Match against Spartans

Titans look to bounce back after loss to Colorado College Sunday, Feb. 26

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - After beginning the 2023 campaign with two straight home matches over the weekend, the Illinois Wesleyan University women's lacrosse team will make its first road trip of the season. The Titans (0-2) will travel to the suburbs to take on Aurora University at 4 p.m. Wednesday, March 1 at the Spartan Athletic Park. The match will serve as the season opener for the Spartans.

Illinois Wesleyan enters the contest after falling to Colorado College Sunday, Feb. 26. Sophomore Lizzie Rymarcsuk (Lake Zurich, Ill.-Saint Viator) made a career-high 14 saves in 33:12 minutes between the posts in the loss. 

Freshmen Carleigh Fountain (Orland Park, Ill.-Carl Sandburg) and Devon Hanson (Waukesha, Wis.-Waukesha West) lead the Titan offense with three points each, all of which have been goals. Senior Sarah Gleason (Park Ridge, Ill.-Maine South) has been credited with a team-high 10 draw controls through the first two games, followed by Hanson with eight. 

Defensively, senior Julia Raczykowski (Minooka, Ill.-Minooka Community) leads the team with four caused turnovers, while Gleason and senior Jennie Hubbard (St. Charles, Ill.-St. Charles East) each have caused three. 

Lizzie Rymarcsuk has logged the most minutes in goal with 78:12, followed by freshman Simone Shapiro (Glen Ellyn, Ill.-Glenbard West), who recorded all 26:48 of action in the Colorado College match.
