Swim and Dive Completes Day One of Carthage Classic

Titans compete in four events

KENOSHA, Wis. - The Illinois Wesleyan University men's and women's swimming and diving teams competed in the first day of the Carthage Classic Thursday, Nov. 30th. The meet started at 4:30 p.m. and concluded with four events swam today. 

On the men's side, two sets of Titans competed in the 800-yard freestyle relay. Sophomore Alex Kula (Pekin, Ill.-Pekin Community), senior Ethan Lowder (Bloominton, Ill.-Normal Community), sophomore Jay Jenkins (Aurora, Ill.-West Aurora), and senior Lane Wagner (Danville, Ill.-Danville) swam a 7:24.91 to grab sixth place overall. Senior Henry Moore (Champaign, Ill.-Centennial), and juniors Carter Dilger (Sellersburg, Ind.-Jeffersonville) and Colin McKibben (Green Oaks, Ill.-Libertyville) competed in the 1650-yard freestyle event. Each placed with a time of 17:31.55, 17:39.68, and 18:59.96 to earn sixth, seventh, and 12th place, respectively. 

The same events were swam on the women's side. Junior Hadley Fudge (Stanford, Ill.-University), fifth year Lauren Feddersen (Champaign, Ill.-Centennial), senior Hannah Murray (West Chicago, Ill.-St. Charles East), and freshman Olivia Kula (Pekin, Ill.-Pekin Community) teamed up for the 800 Yard freestyle relay, earning fifth place with a time of 8:11.67. Six Titans swam the 1650-yard freestyle event. Sophomore Natalie Porter (Danville, Ill.-Danville) was one to note, clocking in at 18:45.22 to earn eighth overall, shaving 59.95 seconds off her entry time. 

The Titans compete tomorrow, Dec. 1, in 12 individual events. Prelims begin at 9 a.m. with finals starting at 5 p.m. The live stream can be found here and the results of the event will be posted on iwusports.com at the conclusion of the day.
