Trio of Titans Named CSC Academic All-District

White, Hofstetter, and Spader earn the distinction

GREENWOOD, Ind. – Three Illinois Wesleyan University women's soccer student-athletes were named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team as sophomore Sawyer White (Downers Grove, Ill.-Montini Catholic) and juniors Audrey Hofstetter (Gilbert, Ariz.-Perry) and Grace Spader (Bloomington, Ill.-Normal Community) earn the distinction. The organization announced its selections Tuesday, Nov. 21.

The CSC Academic All-District Teams honor the nation's top student-athletes for their combined excellence athletically and academically. In order to be eligible, student-athletes must have a minimum grade point average of 3.50 and compete in at least 90% or start in at least 66% of the team's matches. 

As regular starters for the Titans, the trio helped lead Illinois Wesleyan to its 21st-straight College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin tournament appearance while posting a season record of 3-12-2 and 2-5-1 in CCIW play. 

In her sophomore campaign, White served as one of three Green and White captains for the 2023 season while playing an integral role for IWU at midfield. White picked up her second All-CCIW Second Team honor of her career in October. The Downers Grove, Ill. native played in all 18 games and notched her first two goals of her career in Illinois Wesleyan's shutout against Elmhurst, Oct. 18 and as the Titans' go-to for dead ball and corner services, White totaled three assists on the season. White is an elementary education major.

Another co-captain for the Titans, Hofstetter is a business major and a crucial member of the women's soccer team. Hofstetter played in 17 games splitting her duties as a starting defender and goalkeeper. The Gilbert, Ariz. native scored the game-winning goal in IWU's 1-0 win over North Park, Oct. 14 and played five games as keeper, recording 19 saves with a .704 save percentage. She had a career-high single-game nine saves against Wasington University in St. Louis, Sept. 20. 

Spader, a nursing major, played a vital role for the Titans' backline as the junior defender played in all 18 games of the season and started in 16. Spader helped to hold IWU's conference opponents to 13 goals and a .096 shot average.

The CSC Academic All-America teams will be announced Wednesday, Dec. 20 at 12 p.m. ET.
