French Repeats as CCIW Hitter of the Week

The sophomore earns her fourth weekly award of the season

NAPERVILLE, Ill. - Sophomore Taylor French (Romeoville, Ill.-Plainfield East) of the Illinois Wesleyan University women's volleyball team earned her second straight College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Hitter of the Week honor, announced by the league Monday, Oct. 23. It marks French's fourth weekly award of the season, and the sixth in the sophomore's career. 

French led the Titan offense to a 4-0 week, Oct. 15-21, which included a College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin victory over Elmhurst University Tuesday, Oct. 17, before heading out east for three victories in Maine over the weekend. For the week, French totaled 89 kills for an impressive average of 5.24 kills per set on a whopping .243 attack percentage. The sophomore added 65 digs, averaging 3.82 per set, 10 total blocks, seven aces, and four assists to her loaded stat line. 

French opened the week with a monstrous performance against Elmhurst, as she shattered the program's single-game points record with 33.5 points in the match. She finished with a career-high 27 kills on a hefty .368 attack percentage while adding 17 digs to record a double-double performance, four aces, and four blocks in a stat-stuffing showing. 

Against Bowdoin Friday, Oct. 20, French led IWU to a wild five-set victory with 26 kills on a .229 clip, 20 digs, and three total blocks. The Romeoville, Ill. native continued her dominant week with 25 kills on a .215 attack percentage while adding 21 digs and three aces in the four-set win at Colby College Saturday, Oct. 21. French closed out her monstrous week with 11 kills, seven digs, and three blocks in Illinois Wesleyan's sweep over Endicott College Saturday, Oct. 21. 

French and the Titans head to Wheaton, Ill. for their conference season Wednesday, Oct. 25. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m. inside King Arena.
