ST. ANNE, Ill. -
The Illinois Wesleyan University men's golf team topped the field at the Olivet Nazarene University Bill Johnson Fall Invite Saturday, Sept. 17, as junior Bobby Beaubien (Barrington, Ill.-Barrington) picked up his first win of the season. The Titans finished four-over for the weekend with rounds of 294 and 292 on the par-72, 6596-yard Elks Country Club, while Beaubien finished at even par.

Beaubien shot back-to-back 72s before earning medalist honors in a playoff with Parkland College's Zarak Curley. The win marked the second of Beaubien's varsity career, as well as the second by a Titan this season.

Freshman Juney Bai (Mokena, Ill.-Lincoln-Way Central), junior Jack Bruening (Belleville, Ill.-Althoff Catholic), and sophomore Quinn Clifford (Chicago, Ill.-Brother Rice) tied for fifth at three-over par. Bai shaved one stroke off his opening round to card a 73, while Bruening turned in an even-par 72. Clifford recorded a three-over 75 following an opening round 72 the day prior.

Also finishing inside the top-10 was junior Parker Mullen (Naperville, Ill.-Naperville North), who notched the first top-10 finish of his career as he tied for ninth (75-73=148). Mullen along with Bruening led the IWU 'B' team to a third-place finish.

The Green and White won the tournament by a five-stroke margin over Parkland (591), with Illinois Wesleyan's 'B' team placing third with a 598.

Illinois Wesleyan will return to action Wednesday, Sept. 21, at the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Preview. The warmup for the spring's league championship will be played at White Tail Ridge Golf Club in Yorkville, Ill.
