Women’s Lacrosse Sees Season End with Loss to No. 20 Chicago in CCIW Semis

Titans end with an overall 5-13 record

CHICAGO - The Illinois Wesleyan University women's lacrosse team's season came to an end in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin semifinals Wednesday, May 4. The Titans dropped, 19-1 to regular season champions and No. 20 University of Chicago. 

The Titans found themselves behind as the Maroons quickly packed on the goals to go up 11-0. The Green and White's lone goal came with 1:02 left in the second quarter as senior Landry Elliott (Milwaukee, Wis.-Nicolet) stopped the shutout, but IWU could not overcome the deficit. 

Senior Cassandra Jones (Elk Grove Village, Ill.-Conant) and junior Kelly Carlson (Western Springs, Ill.-Lyon Township) led the Titans in ground balls with four, as junior Jennie Hubbard (St. Charles, Ill.-St. Charles East) picked up a team-high two caused turnovers. 

Illinois Wesleyan finished the year with an overall record of 5-13. The defeat also marked the end of the  careers of seniors Elliott, Jones, Bridget O'Malley (Chicago, Ill.-Marist), and Kailee Piwowarczyk (Hometown, Ill.-Oak Lawn)
