Women’s Lacrosse to Honor Seniors, Fight for Postseason Seeding Saturday Versus Carthage

Titans scheduled to start at 4 p.m.

4/29/2022 2:00:00 PM

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University women's lacrosse team closes out regular season play at home Saturday, April 30 for a Senior Day contest with Carthage College. The game is scheduled for a 4 p.m. start inside Tucci Stadium. Senior Day recognition will take place before the game. Saturday's game will follow the IWU men's lacrosse teams Senior Day send off starting at 12 p.m.

The Green and White will honor its four seniors at Saturday's game including Bridget O'Malley (Chicago, Ill.-Marist), Landry Elliott (Milwaukee, Wis.-Nicolet), Cassandra Jones (Elk Grove Village, Ill.-Conant), and Kailee Piwowarczyk (Hometown, Ill.-Oak Lawn). This 2022 class helped the Titans to its second-straight undefeated season in 2019 and are two-time regular season champions in addition to CCIW Tournament Champions in 2019. This group was also a part of the programs first-ever at-large bid into the NCAA Tournament in 2021. A graduating class that was affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, accomplished two NCAA Tournament appearances and was part of a total 36 wins out of 59 games during their IWU careers.

The Titans get ready for a crucial last regular-season game on Saturday to determine the final seeding in next week's conference tournament. Chicago clinched the regular season title with an overall, 6-0 CCIW record. The Titans, Firebirds, and Pioneers of Carroll University battle for the remaining seeds in the upcoming conference tournament.

The NCAA regional rankings were released, April 24, that placed Chicago second in the Region VII list, as well as Carthage at No. 6. The Titans (5-11, 3-2) and Carthage (14-2, 4-1) have faced off a total of seven times dating back to the 2015 season. Historically, the Titans have been successful against the Firebirds as they hold a 5-2 advantage in the all-time record. IWU is on a five-game winning streak over Carthage starting in 2017 when the Titans beat CC twice that season, in regular play and in the semifinals of the CCIW Tournament, eventually earning the Titans first-ever CCIW Tournament Championship title.

The game will be available via live stream and live stats. The livestream can be accessed here and live stats can be found here.
