Women’s Lacrosse Bested by Chicago

Titans to close out regular season play at home, April 30

CHICAGO, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University women's lacrosse team dropped to College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin-leading University of Chicago, 24-6, Saturday, April 23. The Titans (5-11, 3-2) were led by senior Cassandra Jones (Elk Grove Village, Ill.-Conant) who got a team-high three goals for the Green and White. With the win Chicago advanced to 5-0 in the conference, the only CCIW team to remain untouched in league play. 

The Titans opened up the scoring as Jones net her first of the day, just 1:46 into the game. The Maroons came back and scored the next 10 goals to end the first quarter ahead, 10-1. 

IWU scored the next two goals to open the second quarter credited to senior Landry Elliott (Milwaukee, Wis.-Nicolet) and junior Sarah Gleason (Park Ridge, Ill.-Maine South), respectively. Still behind 10-3, Chicago put away three more to widen the deficit to 13-3 at the half. 

The margin was too large for the Titans as Chicago tallied 11 goals in the second half to the Titans three to end the game, 24-6.

IWU returns to action at home next Saturday, April 30 for its Senior Day celebration against Carthage College at 4 p.m inside Tucci Stadium.
