DiLello Named to D3baseball Team of the Week

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - After the Illinois Wesleyan University baseball team platted 46 runs over the four-game week, senior Dominic DiLello (Springfield, Ill.-Sacred Heart Griffin) earned a spot on D3baseball.com's Team of the Week, April 13 with his team-leading .571 batting average over the four-game span. This marks the Springfield, Ill. native's first national award of his career. DiLello now joins junior Jalen Ping (Chatham, Ill.-Glenwood), who earned a spot on the national Team of the Week last week.

In the team's first game of the week, Tuesday, April 5 against No. 9 North Central, DiLello notched one hit, one walk, and one run scored in his three plate appearances. However, DiLello paced the offense in the Titans double dip against Elmhurst, Saturday, April 9. The senior outfielder assembled a 5-for-8 day at the plate that welcomed a pair of RBI and a pair of walks in the 16-4 and 14-2 victories. In the Green and White's final game of the week, DiLello deposited his first round-tripper of the season to go along with two hits and three RBI in the 10-6 win over Carthage.

For the week, DiLello enjoyed a .571 batting average, nine runs scored, eight hits, one home run, five RBI, 11 total bases, a .786 slugging percentage, four walks, and three stolen bases. 

As of April 11, DiLello sits in sixth in all of Division III with his .493 season batting average.

In the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin, DiLello currently tops the league with his .500 batting average, .594 on base percentage, and 38 hits. He sits in sixth with a .671 slugging percentage, third with 12 stolen bases, and fifth with 11 hit by pitches.

The Titans are back in action Friday, April 15 with a twin bill against Carroll University. First pitch is set for 2 p.m. inside Horenberger Field.
