Women’s Lacrosse Opens CCIW Play at Home

Titans welcome Carroll for St. Jude Game

3/31/2022 1:30:00 PM

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University women's lacrosse team returns home for a College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin game against Carroll University Saturday, April 2. The Titans (2-8) welcome Carroll (5-3, 1-0 CCIW) to Tucci Stadium for a 12 p.m. game.

This Saturday, several Illinois Wesleyan athletic teams will come together to raise money for St. Jude. As part of the day, t-shirts will be sold for $15 at the men's and women's lacrosse games, softball games, baseball games, and men's volleyball game. Additionally, each game will host a 50/50 raffle, with proceeds from both the raffle and t-shirt sales going to St. Jude.

The Titans last touched the field in Wisconsin where IWU played the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse and the University of Wisconsin-River Falls, Saturday-Sunday, March 26-27. On the campus of UW-La Crosse, the Titans outlasted the Eagles, 12-11, before falling, 16-8, to UW-River Falls the following day. Carroll is coming off a 16-5 loss to Aurora University, March 26. The Pioneers are receiving votes in the latest coaches poll announced by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association, March 28.

IWU and CU will play for the first time since meeting in the 2021 CCIW Tournament semifinal game April 28, which was thought to be the end of IWUs season. However, the Titans were given an at-large bid into the NCAA Tournament to give the Green and White one more go at the 2021 season. It was IWU's first-ever at-large bid, allowing them to join the University of Chicago and Carroll in the NCAA Tournament. The loss in the semifinals was the first time IWU lost during the first round of the conference tournament since not making the tournament in IWU's inaugural 2015 season.

Overall, the Titans and Pioneers have played a total of nine times since the 2015 season. Before the 2021 season, IWU held a perfect record against CU, but after losses in the regular season and conference tournament last year, Carroll had made up a little ground as IWU still holds the 7-2 advantage in the all-time series.

The game will be available via livestats and livestream. Livestats can be accessed here, and the live stream is available here
