Baseball Swaps Locations, Will Play Knox in Galesburg Tomorrow

First pitch is set for 4:30 p.m.

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - With the ongoing field work at Horenberger Field and the sloppy weather forecast later this week, the Illinois Wesleyan University baseball team will once again hit the road for one last non-conference tune-up against Knox College in Galesburg, Ill. tomorrow, Tuesday, March 29. The teams will toe the rubber for a 4:30 p.m. first pitch. Heading into this contest, the Green and White own a .500 record at an 8-8 clip. The Prairie Fire's record stands at 1-8.

The Titans and Prairie Fire will embark on another chapter in the two program's rivalry. Coming off of a six-year hiatus, the Green and White have claimed a 4-1 series advantage in the five contents. The teams last met April 12, 2016 in Bloomington, Ill. that saw IWU earn an 11-6 victory.

The Green and White last took to the diamond Sunday, March 26 for a twin bill against Wabash College in Crawfordsville, Ind. The Little Giants swept the doubleheader by scores of 7-1 and and 12-4. 

Knox last played in the Sunshine State as the team participated in the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational. The Prairie Fire fell in a 9-2 affair against Keuka College in a game that took place Sunday, March 20.

In IWU's non-conference slate, the senior class has seen success. Senior Dominic DiLello (Springfield, Ill.-Sacred Heart Griffin) leads the offense with a .473 batting average, tops the team with 26 hits, and is tied with the team lead with a pair of three baggers. 

Senior Evan Ranneklev (Naperville, Ill.-Neuqua Valley) leads the Green and White with 22 runs scored, 37 total bases, and is second with eight doubles. The Naperville, Ill. native is also tied with the most at-bats with 57.

Senior Jared Mutter (Frankfort, Ill.-Lincoln-Way East) tops the team with his 21 runs batted in and is tied for second on the team with 24 hits. 

On the pitching staff, sophomore Jacob Cyrus (Glen Ellyn, Ill.-Glenbard South), junior Scott Monocchio (Glen Ellyn, Ill.-Glenbard West), and senior Jacob Duffy (Pontiac, Ill.-Pontiac) all have a pair of victories, combining for 75 percent of the teams wins on the rubber.
