Day Two Concludes for Gilbert at NCAA Swimming Championships

Gilbert looks ahead to last day of competition, tomorrow March 18 for 200 butterfly

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Senior swimmer Ellen Gilbert (Northbrook, Ill.-Glenbrook North) of the Illinois Wesleyan University women's swimming and diving team placed tied for 24th at the NCAA Division III Swimming Championships in the 100 yard butterfly Thursday, March 17.

Gilbert swam a season-best time of 56.05 to garner 24th place, after being originally seeded 42nd. The Northbrook, Ill. native swam 35 seconds faster than her previous season-best time of 56.40 set during the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Championship meet. 

After two days of competition, Gilbert readies for her main event, the 200 yard butterfly, tomorrow Friday, March 18. The senior, who is ranked 13th across all of Division III with a time of 2:03.08, will race tomorrow at 10 a.m. in the trials looking to clinch a spot in the top-16 for the final session at 6 p.m. ET.
