Women’s Lacrosse Overpowered by Claremont Mudd Scripps

Titans travel to Occidental for midweek match, March 16

CLAREMONT, Calif. - The Illinois Wesleyan University women's lacrosse team could not keep pace with Claremont Mudd Scripps Monday night, March 14, as the Titans dropped their spring break opener, 22-1.

Sophomore Britney Maldonado (Hoffman Estates, Ill.-James Conant) kept the Green and White from getting shutout as the Hoffman Estates, Ill. native picked up a rebound from senior Landry Elliott's (Milwaukee, Wis.-Nicolet) free position shot to beat the CMS keeper. 

The Titans (1-5) got off to a slow start in the first half as CMS (5-1) went up 18-0. The Titans showed improvements in the second half, keeping Claremont Mudd Scripps to a total of four goals over the final 30 minutes.

IWU makes one last stop on its spring break trip for a match at Occidental College Wednesday, March 16. The game is scheduled for a 5 p.m. PST start in Los Angeles.
