BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University men's and women's swimming and diving team dropped its College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin dual meet opener to Augustana College Saturday, November 12. The Titans had 11 combined first place finishes.

Augustana's men's team won 163-109, while Augie's women's team defeated the Titans 176.5 to 102.5.

Illinois Wesleyan saw two swimmers pick up two individual victories today, both of which were also a part of the Titans' winning relay team.

Sophomore Alex Kula (Pekin, Ill.-Pekin Community) won two individual events and was a part of IWU's winning 200-yard freestyle relay. The Pekin, Ill. native swam the fastest time in the 200-yard freestyle (1:48.12) and the 500-yard freestyle (5:05.17).

Kula led off the relay team, as he, junior Ethan Lowder (Bloomington, Ill.-Normal Community), freshman Sam Fogarty (Pontiac, Ill.-Pontiac Community), and junior Jake Kalenowski (South Elgin, Ill.-St. Charles North) secured IWU's only relay victory with a time of 1:28.71.

Lowder also notched two individual victories along with the relay win, as he swam the fastest 50-yard freestyle time (21.79), the only swimmer to register a sub-22 time in the event. Lowder was also the champion in the 100-yard butterfly, as he registered a time of 54.19.

Junior Lane Wagner (Danville, Ill.-Danville) took home a win in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 1:58.90, 12 seconds faster than the next swimmer to finish.

Junior Henry Moore (Champaign, Ill.-Centennial) picked up a victory for the Green and White in the 1000-yard freestyle (10:32.72), as he touched 33 seconds sooner than the second place finisher.

The Titans got their first victory on the women's side in the 100-yard backstroke, as sophomore Hadley Fudge (Stanford, Ill.-University) registered a time of 1:01.37.

IWU registered a one-two combo in the 200-yard backstroke, as freshman Kayleigh Kuschewski (Batavia, Ill.- Batavia) and junior Jackie Rae Kelch (Peoria, Ill.-Notre Dame) finished with times of 2:13.64 and 2:17.44, respectively.

Senior Lauren Feddersen (Champaign, Ill.-Centennial) won a close battle in the 200-yard breaststroke, besting Augustana's Brooke Walker by two-hundredths of a second.

Junior Natalie Wajda (Park Ridge, Ill.-Maine South) recorded the top time in the 500-yard freestyle, touching the wall with a time of 5:21.65.
