Swimming and Diving Back Home for Duel with Vikings

Meet is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start

11/11/2022 12:00:00 PM

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University men's and women's swimming and diving teams host College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin opponent Augustana College for a dual meet, Saturday, Nov. 12. The Titans and Vikings are scheduled to start at 1 p.m. inside Fort Natatorium.

IWU enters just its third meet of the 2022-23 campaign. Most recently, the Titans hosted its annual Halloween Invite Saturday, Oct. 29 which saw a total of six different institutions in attendance. Both the men's and women's squads placed second overall and both edged by Augustana who took home first place at the invite.

Junior Natalie Wajda (Park Ridge, Ill.-Maine South), from the women's team, was last week's CCIW Women's Swimmer of the Week due to her performance at the Halloween Invite. Wajda's weekly nod was the first this season for the Titans and the second in her career. Highlighted by her first-place finish in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 2:00.27, the Park Ridge, Ill. native was also a crucial member in two relay races that took home second and first place.

Augustana's women's team are the defending CCIW Champions and have only gone head-to-head against the Titans twice. Both times the Vikings managed to pull out the win, just a few points ahead of the Titans each time. IWU dropped 140-134 and 139-132 in the two meetings, Nov. 6 2021 and Jan. 23, 2021, respectively.

The men's and women's teams are 0-2 against the Vikings in dual meets, with Saturday's competition marking just the second time IWU hosts just Augie.

The meet will be available via IWU swimming and diving's official Facebook page and can be found here. Results from the day will be posted to iwusports.com following the completion of the competition.
