Men’s Hoops Picked to Win It as CCIW Releases Preseason Coaches Poll

Titans garnered six first-place votes

NAPERVILLE, Ill. -
Coming off a College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Regular Season title, the Illinois Wesleyan University men's basketball team will enter the 2022-23 season as the predicted favorite for the league's 2023 championship. IWU topped the annual CCIW Preseason Coaches Poll Thursday, Oct. 27, with 61 points and six first-place votes. The poll comes one day after the Titans were ranked No. 21 in the D3hoops Preseason Top-25.


The Titans were one of three teams to receive first-place nods, with North Central coming in second with one championship vote and 52 points. Reigning CCIW Tournament Champion Elmhurst, who received the remaining two first-place votes, tied for third with Wheaton with 50 points each.

Millikin ranked fifth with 33 points, with Augustana checking in sixth (31). North Park (18), Carthage (17), and Carroll (12) were voted seventh, eighth, and ninth, respectively.

Illinois Wesleyan's season gets underway Wednesday, Nov. 2, with an exhibition game at NCAA Division I Bradley University. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. in Peoria, Ill.
