Men’s Hoops Ranked No. 21 in D3hoops Preseason Poll

Titans one of three CCIW schools ranked nationally

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -
The Illinois Wesleyan University men's basketball team opens the 2022-23 season ranked No. 21 nationally according to D3hoops.com's Preseason Top-25 announced by the organization Wednesday, Oct. 26. The Titans, who finished 24-6 a season ago, received 128 points in the poll.

IWU is one of three College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin schools in the preseason top-25, as Elmhurst and Wheaton check in at 23rd and 24th, respectively. North Central is one of several teams receiving votes. The preseason poll marked Illinois Wesleyan's 186th all-time appearance in the D3hoops.com Top-25, good for eighth-most in the poll's history. The Titans have also been ranked more than any other CCIW institution, as Augustana now ranks ninth with 185 all-time appearances.

Defending national champion, Randolph-Macon, topped the poll with 593 points and 17 first-place votes. Mary Hardin-Baylor was slotted second with four first-place nods and 559 points. UW-Oshkosh (556) and Christopher Newport (551) garnered two first-place votes each round out the top four at third and fourth, respectively.

Illinois Wesleyan, which returns one starter from last season's Elite Eight team, is slated to play No. 3 UW-Oshkosh, No. 13 St. Joseph (Conn.), No. 16 WashU, No. 23 Elmhurst, No. 24 Wheaton as well as Yeshiva and North Central who are receiving votes.

The Green and White kick off the 2022-23 season as host of the second annual Jack Sikma Hall of Fame Classic Saturday-Sunday, Nov. 12-13. The Titans will take on Yeshiva University Saturday, Nov. 12, at 8 p.m.
