WHEELING, W. Va. - The sixth-ranked Illinois Wesleyan University men's golf team claimed the NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championship Friday, May 14, on the par-71, 6857-yard Speidel Jones Course at Oglebay Resort and Golf Club. The Titans fired a final round of 292 to finish at +22 for the weekend and repeat as Division III National Champions.

Illinois Wesleyan is the first team to win back-to-back national titles since St. John's did so in 2007 and 2008, while IWU's 72-hole total of 1155 is the lowest stroke total in the championship since 1998.

The Titans flexed their depth all week long, as IWU was the only school to have five players finish inside the top-35 individually. Senior Rob Wuethrich (Bloomington, Ill.-Normal Community) paced the Titans with a four-day total of 288, tying for fourth. Junior Jimmy Morton (Sugar Grove, Ill.-Marmion Academy) placed sixth at 289, followed by sophomore Ethan Wilkins (Sussex, Wis.-Lake Country Lutheran), who took 10th at 292.

Senior Andrew Abel (Geneva, Ill.-Geneva) finished tied for 12th with a 72-hole score of 295. Fellow senior Justin Park (Vernon Hills, Ill.-Vernon Hills), who shot IWU's best round of the day at even par, tied for 34th (301).

Webster's Will Hocker was the tournament medalist at two-over par, 285. Methodist finished runner-up in the team standings at 1168, while Guilford finished third at 1179.

With their top-10 finishes, Wuethrich, Morton, and Wilkins earned All-American honors.

The title is the ninth in IWU athletics history. The other Illinois Wesleyan national championships have been: 1997 men's basketball, 2008 women's indoor track, 2008 women's outdoor track, 2010 women's outdoor track, 2010 baseball, 2012 women's basketball, 2016 women's outdoor track, and 2019 men's golf.
