Women’s Lacrosse Continues Road Trip to Wisconsin

Titans to face Carthage in CCIW Play

KENOSHA, Wis. - The Illinois Wesleyan University women's lacrosse team hits the road once again to take on Carthage College at Art Keller Field for a 6:30 p.m. start time. The Titans are 1-1 in the conference and 7-2 overall, while the Firebirds sit at 0-1 in the conference and 3-4 on the year.

The Titans and Firebirds have squared off a total of six times since the 2015 season. IWU holds the series advantage with a 4-2 record. In the early seasons, the Firebirds took the first two matches against the Green and White before the Titans swept the last four games. 

Junior Cassandra Jones (Elk Grove Village, Ill.-Conant) was named the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Defensive Player of the Week April 5. The Elk Grove Village, Ill. native earned her first-ever weekly honor after she helped the Titans win their first CCIW game against Augustana, Saturday, April 3. The Titans overpowered the Vikings 19-4, where Jones picked up four draw controls, two caused turnovers, three goals, and one assist during the match. 

The Titans are led by senior Riley Rooney (St. Charles, Ill.-St. Charles) who holds 34 points, followed by junior Landry Elliott (Milwaukee, Wis.-Nicolet) with 27 points, and fellow juniors Jones and Bridget O'Malley (Chicago, Ill.-Marist) with 22 points each. Rooney, Elliott, and O'Malley have registered the team-high of 19 goals each after just nine games this season. Jones and O'Malley have the team high's of 40 and 35 draw controls, respectively.
