WAUKESHA, Wis. - The Illinois Wesleyan University women's lacrosse team travels to No. 2 seeded Carroll University for the semifinals of the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Tournament Wednesday night, April 28. IWU and CU are scheduled to square off, under the lights for a 7 p.m. start at Schneider Stadium.

The Titans enter postseason play with a record of 10-2 and 4-1 in the CCIW, while the Pioneers paste a similar 10-2 and 4-1 CCIW record. In the last meeting the Pioneers got the edge over the Titans with a 13-11 win in the 2021 conference opener, March 27. IWU leads in its all-time series between Carroll, 7-1 dating back to the 2015 season.

IWU and Carroll have met each other twice in CCIW tournament play. Both times were during the semifinal round in back-to-back seasons of 2018 and 2019. The Titans continued their season with a win to the finals each time and brought the Pioneers season to an end. The Green and White have made it to the CCIW Tournament every year since 2016, excluding the canceled 2020 season, and have claimed a total of three CCIW Championship titles from 2017 through 2019.

During the Titans last match against North Central College, junior Cassandra Jones (Elk Grove Village, Ill.-Conant) went on to set the single-game goals record, in the Titans 21-12 win over the Cardinals, April 24. Jones net seven goals off eight shots to beat out the previous long standing record of six. Jones was also named the CCIW Offensive Player of the Week, April 26, due to her performance not only at North Central, but in the Titans 14-13 win over No. 1 seed Chicago, April 22.

Senior Janaye Godfrey (Portland, Ore.-Lincoln) has stood strong between the posts for the Green and White. The Portland, Ore. native leads the conference with a .571 save percentage.
