Defense Powers Women's Volleyball to Win at Augie

Titan move to 2-2 on the year

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University volleyball team got back on track with a win at Augustana College Wednesday night, March 24, at Carver P.E. Center in Rock Island, Ill. The Titans (2-2) topped the Vikings (1-5) in four sets by scores of 25-13, 25-13, 20-25, and 25-23. 

Illinois Wesleyan was led by a monster day from junior Courtney McAuliffe (Lemont, Ill.-Lemont). The Lemont, Ill. native racked up a match-high 13 kills on a .348 attack percentage, to go along with seven blocks. Freshman Maddie Dryfhout (Orland Park, Ill.-Chicago Christian) added 11 kills and 13 digs. 

Juniors Amber Juarez (Bloomington, Ill.-Normal U High) and Makenna Jacoby (Shorewood, Ill.-Minooka Community) anchored IWU's strong defensive performance. Juarez registered a match-high 22 digs, while Jacoby added 19 as the Titans finished with an 80-68 edge in digs. The Green and White also doubled up Augie in blocks, 10-5.

Junior Madi Corey (Frankfort, Ill.-Lincoln-Way East) tallied 21 asssits and nine digs. Senior Caitlin Meyer (Manteno, Ill.-Manteno) chipped in 13 assists and tied Corey for the team lead with three aces.


Illinois Wesleyan returns to the Shirk Center for Senior Day Sunday, March 28. IWU will host Carroll University for a 1 p.m. first serve.
