Swimming and Diving Win 14 Events at Carthage

Murray and McCauley earn three individual titles each

KENOSHA, Wis. - The Illinois Wesleyan University swimming and diving teams won a combined 14-events Friday, Feb. 5 at Koenitzer Aquatic Center on the campus of Carthage College. 
 
Freshman Hannah Murray (West Chicago, Ill.-St. Charles East) led the Titans with three individual titles including the 200 freestyle (1:59.62), 50 free (25.76), and 100 free (55.54). Murray's 200 free race earned her the top-time in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin top-100 rankings for the 2020-21 season thus far. Park Ridge, Ill. native Natalie Wajda (Park Ridge, Ill.-Maine South) touched in two first place times in the 100 butterfly (1:02.94) and 200 backstroke (2:09.77) which also earned Wajda the top 200 backstroke time in the CCIW top-100 rankings. 
 
Sophomore Lauren Feddersen (Champaign, Ill.-Centennial) clocked in a first place time in the 200 breaststroke (2:33.67), while senior Laurin Ebert (Big Lake, Minn.-Big Lake) came in second (2:39.85). Ebert also showed a first place time in the 1000 free (11:17.62) which clinched her the top-time in the CCIW top-100 rankings. Junior Ellen Gilbert (Northbrook, Ill.-Glenbrook North) joins her teammates in their first-place victories in the 500 free touching in at 5:22.90. Gilbert also claims the top-time in the CCIW top-100 rankings in the 200 fly due to her performance from the duel against Augustana College Jan. 23. Junior Megan Wong (Gurnee, Ill.-Warren Township) represented the Green and White in the 200 individual medley with a first place finish (2:15.37) earning her the second top-time in the CCIW rankings. 
 
On the men's side, Freshman diver Jack Troyer (Arlington Heights, Ill.-John Hersey) sweeps the diving portion of the meet claiming first place titles in the one meter (204.75) and three meter (195.68) diving. Junior Mason McCauley (Deerfield, Ill.-Deerfield) picked up three first place individual titles in the 200 free (1:50.14), 100 breast (1:04.51), and in the 500 free with a time of 4:51.27, this time pushed McCauley to the top-spot in the CCIW top-100 rankings for the 500 free event. 
 
IWU swimming and diving returns to action next weekend Saturday, Feb. 13 at Wheaton College in its last regular-season meet. The first event is slated for 2:30 p.m.
