KENOSHA, Wis. - The Illinois Wesleyan University swimming and diving teams take its 2020-21 season on the road this Friday, Feb. 5, as IWU travels to Kenosha, Wis. The Titans will compete in a tri-meet against Carroll University and Carthage College at Koenitzer Aquatic Center on the campus of Carthage. The first race is slated for 5 p.m.
The Titans enter their third meet this season after concluding a fully-virtual meet last Saturday, Jan. 30, in which IWU defeated Millikin and North Central. Carroll most recently defeated Millikin, Jan. 23. Carthage looks to compete in its first competition of the season.
This season, the Green and White have recorded 13 times that rank in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin top-three. Of IWU's 13 top-three times, seven rank first in the conference. Junior
Jackson Rapala (Roselle, Ill.-Lake Park) ranks first in the 1000 freestyle (10:39.55), and
Mason McCauley (Deerfield, Ill.-Deerfield) tops the CCIW in the 200 butterfly (2:02.42). On the women's side, two freshmen represent the Green and White with top-times.
Natalie Wajda (Park Ridge, Ill.-Maine South) ranks first in the 200 backstroke (2:11.58), while
Hannah Murray (West Chicago, Ill.-St. Charles East) touches in first in the 200 free (2:00.35). Sophomore
Lauren Feddersen (Champaign, Ill.-Centennial) picked up the top-time in the 200 breaststroke (2:32.02) and
Ellen Gilbert (Northbrook, Ill.-Glenbrook North) owns two top-time ranks in the 100 fly (1:00.26) and 200 fly (2:09.96).
Three Titans have the most top-three appearances for IWU.
Along with McCauley and Gilbert, freshman
Ethan Lowder (Bloomington, Ill.-Normal Community) also has a trio of top-three times to his name. He holds the second-best time in the 50 backstroke (25.96) and two third-best times in the 50 freestyle (22.14) and 100 butterfly (54.99).
