BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – A three-game roadtrip comes to a close Saturday, Feb. 13, as the Illinois Wesleyan University women's basketball team travels to North Park University for a College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin clash. Tipoff  between the Titans and Vikings is scheduled for 2 p.m.
Illinois Wesleyan has its eyes on a third straight win following a thrilling 81-72 overtime win at No. 13 Millikin, Feb. 9. The win moved the Titans to 2-1 on the season and saw senior Kendall Sosa rewrite the IWU and CCIW record books. North Park (3-2) enters the conference tilt with hopes of snapping a two-game losing skid. Most recently,  the Vikings lost to Wheaton, 71-66, Tuesday, Feb. 9.
Fans can tune into the game via live stats or live stream. Links on how to follow along can be found on the women's basketball schedule page of IWUsports.com.

RECORDS ARE MEANT TO BE BROKEN: With 47 points in IWU's OT win at No. 13 Millikin, Feb. 9, Kendall Sosa broke the program record for points scored in a game. Lila Wagner, who had previously held the record, set the standard with 45 points Jan. 5, 1980.
Sosa's point total also tied Greg Yess for the most points by a Titan in IWU basketball history. Yess accomplished the feat against Indiana Central, Dec. 10, 1980.

SHOOTERS SHOOT: Kendall Sosa's record-setting 47 point effort not only broke the IWU and CCIW single-game records, but it is also the most by a Division III women's basketball player this season. Additionally, it is the second-highest point total across Division I, II, and III this season.
Moreover, Sosa's 47 points are tied for third-most by a NCAA player in 2020-21. On the men's side, John Williams of Division II Glenville State leads the way with 52 points, while Michigan's Naz Hamilton's 50-point game is the most on the women's side. Sosa sits tied for third-most with BJ Maxwell of Division II St. Edward's.

DOUBLE-DOUBLE, AND NOT FROM TIM HORTON'S: Senior Samantha Munroe recorded a 10-point, 10-rebound double-double in IWU's win at 13th-ranked Millikin, Feb. 9. It was the first double-double of her career, while her 10 boards were a career-high.

COMEBACK KIDS: Since the start of the 2008-09 season, Illinois Wesleyan has posted 20 wins after trailing by 10-or-more points. Most recently, the Titans overcame an 11-point fourth-quarter deficit at Millikin, Feb. 9.

VERSUS THE VIKINGS ALL-TIME: Illinois Wesleyan and North Park will square off for the 71st time Saturday afternoon, Feb. 13, in Chicago. The Titans hold a commanding 56-14 advantage in the all-time series and have won 32 of the past 33 meetings with the Vikings dating back to the 2004-05 season.
The team's split last season's contests, with the home team coming out on top each time. After IWU rolled over NPU, 82-51, in the Shirk Center Jan. 8, the Vikings got payback with a 77-64 win over the Titans in Chicago, Jan. 29.

MAKING THEM PAY: The scoring record wasn't the only statistical category Kendall Sosa overtook in the IWU record book Tuesday night, Feb. 9. Her 47-point performance was aided by an 18-for-18 performance at the free throw line. Sosa's 18 free throws tied Jen Zagers for the most made in IWU single game laurels, a record Zagers set against Carthage Feb. 17, 1996.
With her perfect free throw percentage, Sosa became the 13th player in NCAA Division III history to boast a 1.000 free throw percentage on a minimum of 18 free throws made.

THE 50TH YEAR OF IWU WOMEN'S HOOPS: Illinois Wesleyan, now in its 50th year of women's basketball, has compiled a 667-477 overall record. IWU's .583 all-time win percentage includes a 308-191 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin mark.

THE DEAN OF THE CCIW: The 2020-21 season marks the 23rd year under the direction of Mia Smith, the longest tenured coach in the CCIW. Smith's 434 wins are the most among active CCIW coaches by more than 150. Additionally, Smith's 236 CCIW wins are the third-most in league history.
Under the tutelage of Smith, IWU has won eight CCIW Championships and made nine NCAA Tournament appearances. The Titans won the 2012 NCAA Division III Championship following a fourth-place finish in 2011.

ON THE HORIZON: The Titans next game is scheduled for Tuesday night, Feb. 23 at home against North Central. Tipoff in a rematch of IWU and NCC is slated for 7 p.m.
