NAPERVILLE, Ill. - Junior Shannon Murphy (Medinah, Ill.-Lake Park) of the Illinois Wesleyan University women's swimming team was named the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Co-Swimmer of the Week, announced by the league Wednesday, Nov. 3. The Medinah, Ill. native split the award with Carthage College's Jordyn Bloode. Murphy grabbed the Titans' first weekly award this season and the first in her IWU career.

The Titans had an impressive showing during the IWU Halloween Invite Saturday, Oct. 30. Murphy helped the Titans to a team victory registering a total 129 points. Millikin (92), Rose-Hulman (60), and North Central (18) rounded out the scoring.

Individually, Murphy saw a pair of lifetime and untapered bests in four events at the invite. The junior biology major turned in a 100 butterfly relay split of 1:05.47, three seconds better than her previous personal-best. Murphy's 2:07.03 in the 200 freestyle was an untapered best by two seconds, and her 1:08.23 in the 100 individual medley was one second off her lifetime-best, which she established a week prior. Murphy also anchored IWU's 200 freestyle relay with an untapered-best split of 27.30.

Murphy and the Titans have its first dual meet of the season against Augustana College Saturday, Nov. 6. The meet is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start at Anne Greve Lund Natatorium in Rock Island, Ill.
