Lifetime-Bests Earn Tichy CCIW Co-Swimmer of the Week

First weekly award for the sophomore

NAPERVILLE, Ill. - Sophomore Donald Tichy (Chicago, Ill.-Chicago HS for Agricultural Science) of the Illinois Wesleyan University men's swimming and diving team was named the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Co-Swimmer of the Week with Carthage College's Conner Hwang Wednesday, Nov. 24. Tichy earned the award for the first time in his career and is the first swimmer of the week on the men's side for the Green and White this season.

Tichy recorded lifetime best-times in all four of his events at the IWU Invite Saturday, Nov. 20. The sophomore produced a 29.45 split in the 200 medley relay to beat his previous time by 0.8 seconds. In addition, Tichy swam in the 100 breaststroke touching in at 1:06.07, almost two seconds faster than his previous time. In the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle, Tichy recorded times of 25.07 and 54.67, respectively to surpass his previous lifetime-bests.

Tichy and the Titans are back in action after the Thanksgiving break at the Carthage Classic Thursday-Saturday, Dec. 2-4.
