McAuliffe Selected as CCIW’s Offensive Player of the Week

Senior hit .426 to lead IWU to 2-0 week

NAPERVILLE, Ill. - Senior Courtney McAuliffe (Lemont, Ill. - Lemont) of the Illinois Wesleyan University women's volleyball team was named the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Offensive Volleyball Player of the Week Tuesday, Oct. 5. It is the first honor of McAuliffe's career.

The Lemont, Ill. native played a vital role in the Green and White's 2-0 record for the week, as the Titans saw wins against North Park University and No. 20 Millikin University.

The senior middle blocker recorded a total of 24 kills and seven blocks in Illinois Wesleyan's two victories this past week. She notched 13 kills in IWU's five-set victory over North Park to go along with a .379 hitting percentage for the match. In the second match of the week, McAuliffe powered IWU to a three-set sweep of No. 20 Millikin University. She accumulated 11 kills with a staggering .500 hitting percentage. In total, McAuliffe produced seven blocks for the week.

McAuliffe averaged three kills per set, a .426 hitting percentage, 0.88 blocks per set, and 3.50 points per set over eight sets played.  

The Titans return to action Wednesday night, Oct. 6, as the team welcomes North Central College to the Shirk Center. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
