Cross Country Finishes Regular Season Slate at Bradley Pink Classic

Dorsey placed 12th out of 205 runners

PEORIA, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University men's and women's cross country teams participated in the Bradley Pink Classic Oct. 15. This meet was held at Newman Golf Course. The men's team finished in 11th place out of 36 teams, while the women's team captured eighth place out of 37 teams.  

The women's team participated in the "white" 6k race, while the men's team participated in the "white" 8k race. The white race is the "B" race and the red race is the "A" race. These races featured runners from Division I, II, and III institutions. 

Illinois State University won the women's event with 53 points. Loyola-Chicago (67 points), University of Nebraska (70 points), University of Milwaukee (121 points), and the University of St. Thomas (Minn.) (181 points) rounded off the top five. 

University of Dayton won the men's white race with 55 points. Creighton University (92 points), Eastern Illinois University (115 points), Marquette University (115 points), and Carthage College (120 points) rounded out the top five. 

For the women's team, senior Lexie Dorsey (Mahomet, Ill. - Mahomet-Seymour) had the top time for the Green and White. Dorsey crossed the finish line with a time of 23:15.3, which gave her 12th-place out of 205 runners. Senior Jenna Mirande (Peoria, Ill. - Limestone) finished in 52nd place with a time of 24:08.2. 

On the men's side, junior Noah Smith (El Paso, Ill. - El Paso-Gridley) produced the top time for the Titans as he posted a 26:44.8 clip, which gave him 48th-place out of the 197 runners. 

Both teams will enjoy a week off before heading to Warrensville, Ill. to compete in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Championship Saturday, Oct. 30. The race will be held at St. James Farm with a 12 p.m. start.
