BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University women's lacrosse team returns to action with a pair of home games at Tucci Stadium this weekend, Friday-Saturday, Feb. 28-29. The Titans (0-2) host Capital University Friday at 3 p.m. and take on Hope College Saturday at 3 p.m. It will be IWU's first ever meeting against both Capital and Hope.

Illinois Wesleyan dropped two tough games in Memphis, Tenn. last weekend, Feb. 22-23. The Titans fell by a 15-12 tally against nationally ranked Colorado College, Feb. 22, and were upended by Rhodes, 12-11, Feb. 23.

Despite the setbacks, IWU saw junior goalkeeper Janaye Godfrey (Hillsboro, Ore.-Lincoln) be named the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin's Defensive Player of the Week, Feb. 25. Godfrey stopped 26 shots over the two-game span, picked up three ground balls, and added a caused turnover en route to the second CCIW weekly award of her career. Nationally, she ranks 21st in saves per game (13.0), 24th in total saves (26), and 48th in save percentage (.491).

Junior Maggie Torres (Chicago, Ill.-Resurrection) and Bridget O'Malley (Chicago, Ill.-Marist) have paced the Titans offensively, racking up five goals each. Torres has also tallied an assist and leads the team with six points on the season. Senior Amanda Best (Fitchburg, Wis.-Verona Area) tops the team with five ground balls, while Torres leads in caused turnovers (3) and O'Malley leads in draw controls (14).
