ADA, Ohio – The No. 13 Illinois Wesleyan University volleyball team wrapped up play at the 41st annual ONU Invitational with matches against No. 6 Wittenberg University and No. 2 Calvin College Saturday, Aug. 31.
Illinois Wesleyan was handed a 3-0 setback at the hands of Wittenberg in its first set of the day. IWU dropped the first set 25-18, before WU took the second and third sets 25-21 and 25-17, respectively.
Sophomore
Dana Kiszkowski (Schaumburg, Ill.-Schaumburg HS) and freshman
Katherine Petty (Rochester, Ill.-Rochester HS) paced the Titans offensively. Kiszkowski finished the match with six kills, while Petty notched a team-high seven kills. Freshman
Riley Epperson (Payson, Ill.-Payson Seymour HS) posted four aces, while sophomore
Madi Corey (Frankfort, Ill.-Lincoln-Way East HS) chipped in 21 assists, seven digs, and two aces.
In their final match of the weekend, the Titans were defeated by the Knights 3-0 (14-25, 14-25, 16-25).
Junior
Jessica McCall (Wayne, Ill.-Wheaton St. Francis HS) recorded a team-high seven kills in addition to lead IWU with 10 digs. Freshman
Grace Sanders (Bloomington, Ill.-Bloomington HS) chipped in six kills and seven digs in the loss.
The Titans close out their four-match roadtrip at Washington University in St. Louis Wednesday night, Sept. 4. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m.
