ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The No. 24 Illinois Wesleyan University volleyball team saw several Titans notch career-bests in its four-set loss at No. 25 Washington University in St. Louis Wednesday night, Sept. 4.

The Titans fell behind 2-0 in the match, dropping the first two sets by 25-21 and 25-19 scores, before holding off the Bears 25-23 to force a fourth set. IWU came up short in the fourth, 25-16, dropping the top-25 showdown 3-1.

Sophomore Madi Corey (Frankfort, Ill.-Lincoln-Way East HS), freshman Grace Sanders (Bloomington, Ill.-Bloomington HS), and junior Jessica McCall (Wayne, Ill.-Wheaton St. Francis HS) were among the Titans to put together career-best efforts against the Bears. Corey tallied a career-high 43 assists, 15 above her previous career-best, while adding in five digs and four kills. Elsewhere, Sanders posted personal-bests in kills (9) and digs (11) and McCall tied her previous career-best with 16 kills. The junior captain also added 12 digs for the first double-double by a Titan this season.
