Illinois Wesleyan Women's Lacrosse Wins Outright CCIW Title on Seniors' Day

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- On Seniors' Day, the Illinois Wesleyan women's lacrosse team posted a 19-0 win over the University of Dubuque at Tucci Stadium on Saturday, April 27, earning a solo College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin championship with the team's school-record 10th straight win.

The Titans improved to 15-2 overall and 7-0 in the CCIW while the Spartans are 1-14 overall and finished 1-6 in the league. Under the direction of head coach Lindsey Kellar, Illinois Wesleyan has now won two CCIW regular season titles and two CCIW Tournament titles in the five-year history of the program.

No. 1-seeded Illinois Wesleyan will host No. 4 seed Carroll University in a CCIW Tournament semifinal matchup at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 1. Go here for the CCIW tournament website ... Wednesday's semifinal winners will move onto the tournament final against either No. 3-seed North Central or No. 2-seed Chicago on Saturday, May 4, with the winner earning the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Women's Lacrosse Championship ... Illinois Wesleyan, who built up a 14-0 halftime advantage, outshot the Spartans, 31-1, and won 18 of the 20 draw controls. Freshman Landry Elliott led the Titans with four goals while sophomore Maggie Torres, senior Dani Engelbreit, sophomore Riley Rooney and senior Grainne Kelly each netted three goals.
