IWU Women's Lacrosse Ties School Record in 22-6 Win Over Whitman

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- The Illinois Wesleyan women's lacrosse team tied a school record with 22 goals in a 22-6 win over Whitman College on Washburn Field at Colorado Springs, Colo., on Tuesday, March 12.

  With 11 goals in each half, Illinois Wesleyan improved to 5-1 this season and Whitman College is now 2-2. The other 22-point output came at Ferrum (Va.) in a 22-4 win on March 15, 2016.

Against Whitman, senior Grainne Kelly scored five goals while seniors Sam Bidlack, Claudia Richman and Dani Engelbreit along with freshmen Cassandra Jones and Landry Elliott   all accounted for three goals each. Bidlack also led the team with three assists.

Illinois Wesleyan led in shots, 37-12, and held s commanding 29-8 lead in shots on goal. Whitman College committed 22 turnovers compared to 16 for IWU.

IWU goalkeeper Janaye Godfrey had two saves against seven shots in her 40:24 and Sydney MacDonald played the final 19:26.

Isabel Regonini scored two goals to lead Whitman.
