LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The 2019 Illinois Wesleyan women's lacrosse season opened with an 11-9 win over Mount Union in a game played at UofL Lacrosse Stadium in Louisville, Ky., on Saturday, Feb. 16.
The Titans had a 5-2 lead at halftime and held off the Raiders (1-1) in the second half for the win. Both teams had 27 shots and Mount Union had 22 shots on goal compared to 19 for Illinois Wesleyan.
IWU seniors
Grainne Kelly and
Dani Engelbreit each scored three goals and freshman
Landry Elliott added two goals. Senior sam Bidlack led the Titans with three assists. Illinois Wesleyan had a 13-11 edge in ground balls with Engelbreit getting a team-high four.
Titan sophomore goalkeeper
Janaye Godfrey made 13 saves and Mount Union got seven of their nine goals from Danielle Rohrman.
